Born out of Claude von Stroke and Christian Martin's outdoor parties in San Francisco, Dirtybird Records is already well on the way to becoming a legendary label in only its third year. Launched with the release of the modern tech classic, Deep Throat by von Stroke, every release so far has been a dancefloor smash in house and techno clubs worldwide. This month we welcome one of the label and soundsystem co-founders, Christian Martin, as well as two Magic Circle favourites, Matt Walsh from Turbo Records and Zombie Disco Squad! We also welcome brand new talent, Jus' Fab plus resident John & On.
Following a love-affair with dance music stretching back into the 90's New York Club Scene, Christian Martin founded the Dirtybird soundsystem in 2003 alongside Claude Von Stroke, Justin Martin and Worthy. Inspired by the desert soundsystems of old, the San Francisco Golden Gate Park parties have quickly become a city institution, attended by droves of fans from all over the USA and the World. Christian has a host of remix and production work under his belt, both as a solo artist and with his brother Justin as The Martin Brothers. If our 1st birthday party back in May with fellow label co-founder, Worthy, was anything to go by, this night will be an absolute killer!
Matt Walsh is one of the most in-demand DJs in London right now and has recently completed podcasts and production work for the red-hot Turbo Records. He is also a regular at top club nights such as Bugged Out, Durrr, Trailer Trash and Blogger's Delight. Expect nothing less than top-notch electro-tech sounds. Magic Circle DJ John & On continues his successful residency with space-house, disco-bass and beyond.
Local boys, Zombie Disco Squad, are also two of the hottest Djs in town right now. You only have to check their uber-busy calendar that takes in regular trips to the european party capitals to determine that. As well as running one of the best East London parties of the moment, Get Rude, the guys have just started to attract attention of those in-the-know with their production skills. They are extremely versatile DJs so expect to hear anything from late-night wonky techno to party batty bass music.
Support comes from super-new but super-hot DJ talent, Jus' Fab (check his latest amazing electro-tech mix all over the blogs at the mo) and MC resident, John & On.

Alex Viera (Portugal) has rocked dance floors from clubs in South America to Europe and expect no less at the Egg! Oiram Gar, A regular gust for TEMBA loved for his warm driving techno sets and perfect mixing techniques, a real DJ wizard! Yeah Robbie (Spain) one of the new rising stars of the East London underground, his style takes you through jump up electro to melodic techno. Hosted by resident Jacob Husley (TEMBA/kismet records/wetyourself).

Dissident Records present their first ever label event! Recently described as "The Coolest Label In The World" by Dazed & Confused Mag (who are we to argue?), head-honcho Andy Blake and guests Nadia Ksaiba (Our Disco) / Amy (Dub Dsco) will be turning the Alwayz Frydaze basement into a dirty all-night disco session. Reach for the glitter ball!
On 8th August at EGG, D-LATE will be rocking the terrace with Berlin duo Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner, who are lucky enough to fully test all their productions at Panorama Bar and Bar 25 where their deep twisted minimal tracks are played to the best clubs in Berlin.
Their track 'Ear Worm', with it's weird, almost African chant vocal was thrashed to pieces from Hawtin down to all the scene's biggest names last year. They are back now with the Deep and hypnotic 'Delayed' with artists like Shinedoe, 2000andOne, Sebo K, Layo, D'Julz having all dropped the track, built around a looping filtered sample that winds in and out of a sample of an English-accented man attempting to pay for sex!
Their UK debut is much anticipated!..
Turbo new signing Zak Frost (burn out) will also make his D-LATE debut and RichNxT will be residing over the decks with his usual deep sounds.

Chockablock continue their roadblock and ground-breaking Grime / Bassline / Electro nights here at AF. This month they have got a real crowd-puller in the form of Giggs who has been much-hyped on the scene and now getting well over 1000 myspace hits a day (if that's the way you measure this stuff!). If the hype is anything to go by, upcoming single "Walk In Da Park" is gonna be a straight-up smash- watch out for it in the shops, Aug 4th. Expect a mixed crowd of Grime-heads and east-london fasionistas for this one as the Chockablock guys also moonlight as Music Editors for the fasion phenomenon that is Super Super Mag. A whole host of DJs and live acts support playing Grime / Bassline and a dash of electro bizness.
Temba bang out twisted techno and acid electro in the Terrace… August picked up by Nick warren for the last Global Underground compilation and releasing on several other labels August is a very hot producer that will give a taste of whats in store for his future releases. Alwayz Frydaze continue our groundbreaking, underground and distinctly affordable friday nights up at Egg, testing the clubs Funktion One sound to the max as always. In celebration of the bank holiday (hooray!) we welcome London's non stop disco devils Lasermagnetic into the A.F. family, as they host a room here for the first time as well as regulars D-Late hosting the Terrace. Both have pulled in extra-special guests for the occasion with Lasermagnetic's Neil & Johnny inviting Freeform Five to grace the decks as well as rising star Little Boots. If that wasn't enough, we have Jona from Get Physical flying in from Belgium to bang out some Techno / House of the highest order this is going to a great way to stat the biggest bank holiday weekend of the year. Over the last few years the Lasermagnetic boys have bought some great guest to their partiers including Daniel Wang, Losoul, Prins Thomas, Lindstrom, Chromatics, Andrew Weatherall, Trevor Jackson, Tim Sweeney, Ame, Thomas (Rub n Tug), Studio, A Mountain of One, Beppe Loda, Quiet Village, Pete Herbert, Tim Paris, Padded Cell, Friendly Fires, Idjut Boys, Mongolian Jetset and Faze Action and with this fantastic line up for their Frydaze debut its going to be one big disco!!.
Anu Pillai AKA Freeform Five is a DJ/Producer that can see no boundaries. Touring the world extensively as a DJ and with an LP and several mix CDs under his belt, he originally started making music for Derrick Carter's Classic Music Label and remixing everyone from NERD to Brian Wilson. Expect a versatile set that mixes everything from Nu-Disco to Electro and beyond.
Little Boots is a rather fine solo producer and DJ who is very much on the up. With upcoming / past DJ slots at loads of the big festivals, including Glastonbury / Creamfields / Offset etc as well as a mix for BBC 6 Music, she really knows how to work a dancefloor as well as impress with her production work.
Up on the terrace, D-Late get a bit more minimal and techno on the A.F. crowd with Get Physical's Jona flying in from Belgium. Jona is one of Get Physical's premier new talents who although still in his 20s, is a name to watch, if his 'Learning From Mistakes' is anything to go by....Fresh from helping Get Physical with their 6th Birthday party at Watergate, Belgium's 10 days of music festival along with a great new release on Carl Craig's Planet E recordings.Originally a guitar player of some repute, who was influenced by legends like Joe Satriani and who was schooled by the great Gérard Jouffroy, Jona’s blues background as well as his love of techno - he has studied sound engineering and has also released on Serie Records and Color as well as Get Physical.
Resident Rich Nxt provides support in the form of electro-tech / minimal house sounds plus guest Rebekah making her D-LATE debut from Kitch Bitch recordings with French and Chicago house influences.
