Looks like California's referendum this week to ban gay marriage got approved with heaps of hypocritical help. The Daily Telegraph today reports that "70 per cent of the African-American voters who overwhelmingly backed Mr Obama also approved Proposition 8, helping pass the controversial ballot"
What could have persuaded them to do such a hypocritical thing? Well, The Los Angeles Times reports that Proposition 8's supporters ran a
shrewd campaign that focused on insinuations of the effects of same-sex
marriage on schools, churches, and children. They alleged that children
would be indoctrinated with same-sex marriage at school against their
parents’ wishes and that churches that did not perform the marriages
would be punished." And?!
Despite the vote to ban gay marriage, weddings performed in the state before the ban are apparently still legal.
