Market EC 1
New Years Day 1 January 2009
Market EC1, the latest addition to the fabric family launched with a bang on Sunday 7 December. This monthly event, targeted for a diverse gay/lesbian/bi art and fashion crowd, is the start of a new phenomena in London. Attracting as fine a crowd as you’re likely to find anywhere in London, Market EC1 will be returning to fabric for a very special New Years Day party on January 1st 2009.
Market EC1 in 2009 is going to be the source of plenty of surprises, starting with New Year’s Day and some of the finest artists and performers in London. In Room One, Spanish DJ and producer David Penn – who has had releases on Defected, Azuli, Black Vinyl and won best house DJ in the Spanish Deejay Magazine Awards two years running – will be bringing some of that stunning house music to the party. Joining him in the main booth will be some of the capital’s best loved DJs including Guy Williams, Pagano and Nick Tcherniak.
Market EC1 though is not just about the music, but also live performances. The Nearly Really Rude Show, a performance art group, once perfectly described by The Times as an “intimate, sensual Circue De Soleil” will be bringing their seductive show to the fabric stage - the first time this unique show has been presented to a gay audience. Visuals meanwhile will be supplied by Prickimage, with its amazing Moveable Projector Unit.
Room Two is going to be altogether grimier. Behind the decks, Black Rabbit’s Justin Robertson will be lining up alongside the Gutterslut Crew – the trashiest DJs in the east, Per QX, Elliot Brown and Nic Fisher. Also on the night will be a captivating live performance from London’s belles of burlesque – the Adora Gals. Not to be missed.
In Room Three, Wish take over. Their fantastic lineup includes Kath Harding, Kate Nunn, Ben Jamin’ and Laura Heath as well as VJ Hobbyboy taking you on a stunning visual journey.
Across the venue, breathtaking art will be on display, available for purchase, as well as the Market Canvas which anybody can contribute to. Cutting-edge music, jaw-dropping live performances, sublime art and a beautiful crowd. New Years Day is when the real parties happen – get Market EC1 at fabric in your diary today.
