Sin is closing in 2 weeks. The last Popstarz there is on Friday 16th Jan and they are moving to Bloomsbury Ballroom on Fri 30th until the sort out a permanent new venue in mid March. They’re also offering reduced tickets for people caught up in queuing mayhem on NYE. “Continue reading” for details on these, Ghetto and Trash Palace. Its all in the gay London calendar.
They say:
NYE ONLINE TICKETS
Sorry to any people who had to queue for ages in the online ticket queue on NYE. Various people messed up all of whom have been promptly tied up with gaffer tap and thrown in the Thames.
To say sorry we’re extending the offer of free entry to online ticket buyers to this Friday (as well as last Friday) which is equal to £16 of free entry to Popstarz.
Doesn’t make up for freezing your butts off on the coldest NYE in recorded history but it’s not a bad deal either. So if you bought an online ticket just turn up and say your name this Friday 9th Jan and get in free (even if you got in with no probs on NYE) arrive before 12 and you’ll also get A FREE DRINK TOKEN.
Some people have also mentioned the queues at the bar and the cloakroom inside the venue, we’re just as annoyed as you are about this and unfortunately this side of things is out of our control but we have passed these complaints to the owner of the venue.
POPSTARZ IS ON THE MOVE
Sin Closing in two weeks!
Along with the Astoria and the old Ghetto, Sin, Popstarz’s gorgeous home for the last year is set to close it’s doors forever on Mon 19th Jan.
Making our last Friday there the 16th of Jan. But never fear because we have a gorgeous new home for popstarz opening in mid March. The new home is centrally located and is one of London’s top clubbing venues.
But it won’t be ready till Mid March so what on earth will popstarz do in meantime I hear you ask. Don’t panic we are setting up camp at the gorgeous Bloomsbury Ballroom for a run of special parties. Bloomsbury Ballroom is a stunning venue 10 mins walk from Tottenham Ct Rd Tube (Just 3 mins from Holborn).
It’s swanky and comfy somewhat like a posher version of Sin. Its got 3 rooms, a huge ballroom, a medium lounge and a lovely chill room with plenty of seating. (see below for more details of this fantastic venue).
Diary dates

POPSTARZ AT BLOOMSBURY BALLROOM FROM 30TH JAN 09
A temporary treat for the popstarz population.
While we wait for our new home to come available we are setting up camp at Bloomsbury Ballroom in the centre of town. This stunning venue boasts 3 rooms.
In the massive Ballroom itself we we’ll be playing a mixture of Indie and Pop, just like we do at Ray Of Light (returning this year) and The Brighton Pride Carnival. It works really well. One minute you’ll be moshing away to Kings Of Leon and the Killers then you’ll get some Blondie and Britney thrown in for good measure. All in one gigantic room. Awesome. When we move to our new permanent home the rooms will split again.
In the medium sized lounge you’ll be able to escape and hear some RnB tunes whilst in the classy chill room you can kick back and have a natter.
There’s slightly different opening times at Bloomsbury. It’ll open one hour earlier at 9pm with the improved happy hour (with a better selection of 2-4-1 drinks) running 9-10pm. The Club will close slightly earlier than Sin at 3am. For those of you still wanting to boogie at this time you’ll receive a free entry ticket to Kill Your Pets at the new Ghetto which is just a hop skip and a jump (5 mins in cab 10 mins on a night buses N55 or N35) in a cab up the road from Bloomsbury Ballroom. On Fridays and Saturdays the new Ghetto has a 5am bar!!!
We’re expecting these special nights at Bloomsbury to be very busy so please get there early.
Queue jump tickets are available from Trash Palace and the new Ghetto all week long so grab one and take advantage of the special speedy entrance.
