Finally, the RVT: HOT AUGUST FRINGE offers a more affordable alternative to performers who find the cost of other fringe festivals prohibitive.
This festival also fits in with the long tradition of performance at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern dating back to 1863 and the surrounding Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens going back even further. Since then, artists from Lily Savage (Paul O’Grady), Julian Clary, Graham Norton, Justin Bond and others have performed at the venue.
The RVT is reaching out to the local community to build support and enthusiasm for the festival and as a way of showcasing the traditional role of the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens as a destination for entertainment and socializing from the mid 17th to mid 19th centuries.
