DOGGING HAS ARRIVED AT A CAR PARK NEAR YOU…
Presented by City Lights Theatre Company
Ever wondered what your dear old gran gets up to in her spare time? Or the quiet couple who live next door for that matter? Dogging, the new play by Tony Higgins, will definitely give you food for thought. This dark comedy lifts the lid on the subversive world of dogging and its oddball inhabitants. Meet Peter the former public schoolboy with a penchant for pooches or Terry who is more attached to his car than his wife.
Matt Ian Kelly, director of The Gaydar Diaries and However Do You Want Me, presents a show like you’ve never seen before. Prepare to cast aside your inhibitions as he invites you to assume the role of voyeur to the weird and wonderful antics of a night’s dogging. All the action takes place in the authentic setting of the car park at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern.
The writer, Tony Higgins, says:
“I love extreme scenarios and environments, particularly when it comes to comedy. I’ve been able to explore the grotesque and have given the audience a chance to enter a world far beyond their comfort zone. I'm really excited to have Matt Ian Kelly presenting Dogging. As a site specific piece, it'll be a very different experience to a traditional play. After all, when was the last time you saw a bunch of strangers hanging around a pub car park, waiting for a group of actors to start dogging?”
Not so much titillating as scintillating, Dogging offers a unique take on a slice of British life usually reserved for the Sunday tabloids and is a chance for the audience to draw their own conclusions.
Tickets are £11 (£9 Conc)

PRIVATE HIRE
FRIDAY 18th December : 3rd FRIDAY OF THE MONTH
7pm -8.30pm : Alparet
After his sell-out success at the Leicester Square Theatre Basement, Alp Haydar brings his signature rabble-rousing and up-beat performance style to The Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Accompanied by his musical partner, multi-talented composer and accompanist Richard Link, Alp croons his way through Christmas songs old and new, steering a nostalgic and giddy sleigh ride through the frozen wastes of the North Pole straight onto Santa's lap.
Growing up in a musical family, Alp's first exposure to live performance was watching the folk singers and belly-dancers at his parents' taverna in his native home of Cyprus. It's from there that he travelled to Turkey to study at the Istanbul Academy Of Music And Art were he had his first exposure to English popular standards. In 1997, Alp moved to London to live with his grandmother, bel canto soprano Selma Berk. After meeting Richard at an open-mic cabaret on The Strand, Alparet was born. With surprises aplenty, Christmas Alparet will be an exciting of hour of contagious musical fun and laughter.
Haydar and Link debut their Christmas single 'Meet Me On Boxing Day' on the 18th! So mark it in your diary and be sure not to miss what promises to be a very special evening. To find out more about Alparet, Search 'ALPARET' on Facebook or YouTube to watch the videos.
