Queer Question Time at the RVT was quite the success for free debate. Well, not always as the divisive figure of Julie Bindel provoked a lot of strong feeling that many had to vocalise. Never have we seen hustings so besieged and the RVT's security having to earn their keep so much. Fortunately it was well managed under the stewardship of Stewart Who? and most got to make their points. We thought this video may have been how Stewart and the panelists viewed the floor at times...

The police are now conducting an investigation. As far we know the bar's still open.

Well the Canadians may allow gay church folk music (see below), but the good old Brit church wouldn't. It's not easy to love the baby boomer generation. Their parents fought the war and handed them quite the post war prize: free healthcare including dental, a free education and the longest economic expansion we're ever likely to see. They promptly took all that, pulled the ladder up behind them and have saddled us with the bill, including a retirement many made no provision for - great. Well, Martin Amis has a solution, The Guardian today reported. He is calling for euthanasia "booths" on street corners where they can terminate their lives with "a martini and a medal". He says Britain faces a "civil war" between young and old, as a "silver tsunami" of increasingly ageing people puts pressure on society. "They'll be a population of demented very old people, like an invasion of terrible immigrants, stinking out the restaurants and cafes and shops," he said. "I can imagine a sort of civil war between the old and the young in 10 or 15 years' time. We're pleased to report that our Sub Editoress has already made provision for his euthanasia death (drugs to do it available in Spring Gardens and Chariots) and we're moving him into a flat with a lot stairs if he chickens out.
Labour are having a final push to get anybody to take their doomed ID cards. Already proven to be useless in the War on Terror as they can be copied, aren't universal and probably prone to abuse by the hundreds of thousands that would have access to your data, they've got a new wheeze -they're pitching them to London students as a form of ID for bars. Michael Parker of pressure group No2ID said: “This is laughable — they are asking skint students to spend £30 on a card that will be worthless after the election because the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have promised to abolish them. These cards won't be worth the plastic they are printed on and there is a perfectly good age card available already for a tenner.”
