Here's a shout out from the Met re a robber you may have met in Charing Cross that they've caught but need your help with:
"Lambeth Police have recently identified a series of offences committed against members of the Gay community, in particular middle aged men who have met by chance with a younger male, normally in a bar in the Charing Cross area of London and have invited the male back to their own home where the male has spent the night with them...
Read on for the rest...
During the course of the night it is suspected that the male has, whilst at the victims home administered a substance to their drink and victims have woken after an extended period, the next day somewhat disorientated for a short period and suffering from a lack of recall which they initially suspected may be due to alcohol though the victims have described never having experienced effects like this before. They then have gone on to discover that expensive items have been stolen along with cash or cards or in some cases, motor vehicles.
We are urging the Gay community to be aware of this type of crime, of whom they meet, and in particular being careful about drinks prepared for them in their own homes by others whom they may have only recently met. If you feel you have been a victim of a similar crime, please attend your local Police Station or speak to your LGBT liaison Officer in confidence, who can be found on www.met.police.uk/contacts/lgbt.htm. To help the police investigate this matter victims are advised to see a Doctor the following day and consider a blood sample being taken to screen for drugs, not to touch glasses, bottles or cigarette butts and keep any clothing, bedding or other items from which DNA may be recovered.
A 19 year old man has been arrested and charged with a number of offences in relation to this investigation and whilst police believe that they have stopped this offender they are urging members of the Gay Community to continue to be aware of this type of crime and be cautious around handling of drinks, especially when back at their own homes.
