Reassuring claims on the census form to be filled in this Sunday that ""Your personal information is protected by law. Census information is kept confidential for 100 years" are lies. Big ones.
According to folks who've read the confidentiality statements it's confidential between you, the police, MI5 and basically anybody the government anoints as a "researcher". Basically, it's legislation that was being pushed through by New Labour at the height of its surveillance society mania. That surveillance was possible by every mate you had in the council too BTW.
We're not that bothered but the blatant lying you only discover when you drill down is quite telling. When you're telling the government everything, don't forget to declare your religion as Lesbian.
