Community relations on a council estate in Islington are a tad fraught this week thanks to a monumental cock-up by Islington Council - residents now live in fear for their lives.
Drinking and the "smoking of drugs" in the communal areas by people that didn't live on the estate had become a serious problem on the Andover Estate. Residents took to reporting those doing it to the council. Armed with the names the council then took action, banning 10 people from the estate. However, hope turned to incomprehension and then fear when the residents learned that the council had accidentally told those they'd banned who had complained about them - complete with full names, phone numbers and addresses.
The council's sent a report to the Information Commissioner which we're sure will help residents sleep at night. The police have stepped up patrols.
