PinkNews says that "While a last minute meeting takes place at City Hall to see if it is possible to save parts of London’s WorldPride event this weekend, calls have been made to hand the organisation of the event on to a new body in future. (This years) event was scaled back after a funding “shortfall” last week. Floats and cars have been barred from the parade which was due to start at 1pm."
If you have contacts coming from outside London we urge you to make sure they're aware of the earlier 11am start for the march. We can only hope this mess invigorates us all into taking a more active, and dare we suggest political, interest in OUR gay pride. Let's not get too cocky either - most will spend a fortune to get into the right club on Pride night but screw their coke nurtured noses up at offering a few quid so Pride can fund itself - tho f*ck knows we're loathe to give these serial Quango Close-It Queens anything.
Apparently Boris helped save the Trafalgar Square with a bailout of £100k tho it will have to finish by 6pm. Unofficial Soho events are going ahead and we'll keep you posted when things are more certain.
