We don't have all the facts but it looks like there was a pretty grim incident involving the police and a trans woman in Soho on Wednesday afternoon.

A No ID No Entry policy is being introduced across Vauxhall. They hope it will help deal with the "problems of the night-time economy". It will affect all night-time venues. We're not sure when they all need to have this in place.

Great story from PinkNews. "Antisocial behaviour mediator found guilty of abusing lesbian couple and sticking finger up woman’s nose".
Apparently a session got our of hand: "A woman from Croydon, south London, has been found guilty of assault after she abused a lesbian couple within earshot of school children and stuck her finger up another woman’s nose. Diana Marquis, 51, works as an antisocial behaviour mediator with the Wandle Housing Association..."

The Met have released this picture saying it's the guy who was subjected to the gay hate tirade by the self-styled Muppets (...) vigilante mob. They'd like to speak to him.
Strikes us the guy that got all the homophobic abuse might not even be gay... or want to identify as gay. Whatever the case, the abuse was still a crime whether the person it's directed at is gay or not. So, if that's you pictured, ring the police if only to let them know you are alright.

Peter Tatchell has managed to get new advice issued to coppers after he highlighted the fact gay men were having their DNA taken by them in dubious circumstances - basically forgetting that gays are legal now and old gross indecency laws have been repealed. We reported about it here... and think we saw a low budget cheap thriller about it called 'No ifs, just butts'.
Jokes aside, it's a serious matter and well done Peter Tatchell for stopping this rotten practice. Who else is fighting for us like him? We don't know and we reckon you should give him some bloody cash so he can go on doing it - give him one here or just check out the great work he's doing.
You can read the full report and guidance below and the bottom of that some related articles...
(FYI: it's only cause we know some hard working, honest and nice policeman that this headline wasn't much worse.)

Remember those idiots that put up anti-gay posters in the East End? Some tit was prosecuted for it. Alas, some other scrots are it again. The BBC says "A video has appeared online showing men shouting homophobic abuse at another man in east London, telling him to "get out of here" as "it is a Muslim area".
"Continue reading" for more info and to see the video.

“Manchester and Northumbria police are visiting gay men convicted of consenting, victimless same-sex behaviour and demanding they provide DNA samples. In some cases, the men’s convictions date back three decades and were under homophobic laws that have since been repealed,” reports Peter Tatchell, Director of the human rights advocacy organisation, the Peter Tatchell Foundation.

Philip Schofield, who today give the PM a list of paediatricians he'd found on the internet and demanded action, got more than he bargained for when a blast from the past turned up, according to the net.
After giving the PM a list of people to investigate, Schofield was (not) joined on set by Gordon the Gopher from his days in children's television at the now infamous BBC.
Gordon the Gopher made shocking allegations according to stuff we might one day read on the internet: "Squeek squeek squeeeek Philip squeek squeek squeek" the Gopher may or may not have said live on air... Gopher translators on the internet could one day say Gordon alleged that Schofield had watched him being fisted repeatedly live on air and did nothing but laugh as he squeeked for help - "All Schofield did was talk about He-Man, Thomas the Tanked Up Engine (Saville?), Byker Grove and "that hottie Bacon from Blue Peter", nobody alleges.

Amsterdam's mayor says he won't ban foreign tourists from using the city's cannabis cafes. It was billed as a move to clean up Amsterdam and ditch it's grubby druggie image. However, he says banning drugs only causes more crime as folks buy them illegally giving rise to organised crime and street problems.
Who'd have thought that...

Pink News reports that "An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy from Brighton have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following an attack in the city’s LGBT district.
The incident happened during the early hours of Friday morning in Kemptown near St James’s Street. Sussex Police say a 42-year-old man received serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment."
Not nice but that's Brighton in our experience. We tried finding a pic of a dog on a string to capture the spirit of Brighton and got this - it's a ned - Scottish version of a chav (Non Educated Delinquent. and a phrase termed long before chav. Julie Burchill's going to be kicking Damaged Control's door in now - talking of... (BTW, cheap shots aside, we think they (Brighton's Pride folks not chavs) should bid to run our Pride tho this London sarcasm might be confirming every bad perception they have of us London types)

You might recall the horrendous murder of Jody Dobrowski we reported on seven years ago. He was beaten so bad his mother couldn't recognise him when she had to identify the body. A memorial garden was created in his memory but it needs some maintenance and there are plans for a new bench. It all costs money so the Two Brewers are hosting an event with No to Hate Crime on 7 October. Please support it if you can.
Jody was just one of many victims that back then during a huge spate of homophobic attacks. We worked over time trying to keep up and it was a very dark time.
A fundraising event will be held on 7 October at the Two Brewers pub on Clapham High Street to pay for the bench, with all additional funds going to the 17-24-30 No to Hate Crime Campaign

Gay Star News got a statement from the Ambulance service regarding trouble in Vauxhall last night.
It says: We were called at 4am to Goding Street, SE11 to a man reported to have stopped breathing. ‘We sent two ambulance crews, a responder in a car and an officer to the scene, with the first staff arriving within four minutes. Extensive efforts were made to resuscitate the patient at the scene and on the way to St Thomas’ Hospital. The 25-year-old was declared dead at 5am. The London Ambulance was called again to Goding Street just before 4.40am and again at 5.10am to help treat two other male patients. While the second man was conscious, the third was in a serious condition and both were taken to St Thomas’ Hospital.
Does this have anything to do with Area's police visit and closing early? Well, Gay Star News say "Ambulances were called to help save three men in Goding Street close to the gay club Area in Vauxhall". However, GSN's headline says "Man dies after clubbing in gay London bar" and has a pic of the RVT - which would have long since been shut then after hosting Duckie. So, we don't know.
Three casualties all at once is worrying. Our thoughts go out to all those affected.
Well done Gay Star News who have a full report here.

We've always thought it creepy that taxi's can record what you say and do. The good news is that Infomation Commissioner agrees and says they can only record your conversations on very rare ocassions - meaning they must activate it when they're getting abuse or something.

The friendly neighbourhood lovelies at the Met write "Members of the public who intend on visiting the capital this summer are being urged to keep up to date by signing up to the Met’s free messaging service, Neighbourhood Link." OK so it's probably not a shagdar thing but probably worth giving a whirl if you're new in town and need some top tips. PS: whatever they say about us IS NOT TRUE!
