- If we get any rest after getting all hyped up during Wayne G's set til 4am on Sunday (aren't his promo pics sweet/ buffed?!) we got to thinking about ways to chill out and recover afterwards.
We know many folks just check into St Thomas' or go all Shoreditch, but not us. Option One was sleep in a Victoria Park hedge. Option two was way more inspired and realistic...
The police have launched an appeal after a woman was serioulsy assaulted after leaving Vauxhall's Union at about 5.45am on Sunday 14 May.
The victim and her friend had just left the club and were making their way home along Albert Embankment. A man approached them offering them drugs and . when they refused he seriously assaulted her. She needed treatment for facial injuries.
The attacker wasn't targeting people leaving this one club. This could have been anyone leaving any club in the area - please don't hesitate to help if you can.

HIV Weekly report that men who use alcohol or drugs when they are having sex with other men who they do not know, are more likely to have unprotected sex - without a condom.

We were reassured to hear George Michael wasn't driving the car he had an accident in recently. Why? It would have just been too too much after his various other accidents. Well, now it appears he wasn't driving but did cause the accident. How? He fell out of the car on the motorway at 70mph.
The woman who had to dodge him falling out of the car, and whose quick thinking saved him getting hit by other cars, say she was told he was trying to close the door as it hadn't shut properly. Terrifying for everybody. Glad he's alive. Seems he can do his own stunts from now on:) The police say “Investigations are continuing and it is going to take several weeks to establish exactly what happened.” More here...
Our favourite made up man, Joy Scissor Hands, has started a beauty blog. He can speak for himself: "I've been wearing funny clothes and too much make-up for over 20 years. I've also managed to keep my daylight world together enough to run some of London's top hair salons and spas throughout, very successfully and very gorgeously. I do bang on, but there are nuggets of wisdom in amongst the mental stories, knee-jerk judgements and useless advice, read on darling, you could do a lot worse than listen to me."

An article in Brit medical journal the Lancet tells us that "In Europe, an estimated 9 million people are infected [with Hep-C], but only half have been diagnosed". It continues that only France and Germany have screening programmes and a European wide approach is needed. Read the article here.
Hep-C (HCV) is serious. A friend of mine died from it two months ago. He was not injecting before he got HCV.

Since 1999, same sex couples have been able to have their union recognized by French law. Well, almost… This contract is called the PACS and must be signed in front of a judge (like you are criminals), couples are not allowed to celebrate their union in the town hall and it does not give any rights concerning inheritance, mutual taxes, adoption or the legal relationship between parent and child. It was once again a treacherous way to categorize Gay and Lesbians into second class citizenship.
Then the struggle began to the extension of civil marriage to all.

Thatcher's in the news, HIV rates are on the up... and health funding's being cut. Not the 80s, today.
GMFA have said they've lost their funding for HIV information services. There has been a long on-going debate about whether their work actually worked but there's no doubt that their info on living with the virus has been helpful for many.
It's the latest in a long line of cuts to HIV funding. Some folks seem to think just because you can pop some pills that's it. That aint it. The pill's are frighteningly expensive, popping them doesn't change other risky (physical and mentally) behaviours nor help find ways of bringing the transmission rates down.
What do you think might work?
Well we heard of gaydar but bottomdar? Canadian scientists Konstantin O. Tskhay and Nicholas O. Rule tell us that Canadians can tell thether you're a top or bottom by just looking at your face.
They also say "In intercourse between men, one of the partners typically assumes the role of an insertive partner (top) while the other assumes a receptive role (bottom)." Maybe their research is flawed... More such drivel in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour.
