We love Paul Klee but the Tate Modern can just f*ck off. We'll get to that later. First up, his works look very modern so you have to keep reminding yourself he's been dead since 1940.
It's still refreshing and engaging because he was way ahead of his time and interested in expressionism, cubism, surrealism and colour theory. These tick most of out boxes and the tate know this - it's a £15 blockbuster... We're not talking taxi driver pleasing paints that look like what they oughtta though.

Medieval overlord Putin says gays will be made to feel welcome at Sochi. We imagine that means rubber bullets instead of real ones.
Fearing a boycott of the Putin Games, and trying to please the dodgy fat cats of the IOC, he told state controlled Russian media "We will do everything to make sure that athletes, fans and guests feel comfortable at the Olympic Games regardless of their ethnicity, race or sexual orientation". Wow, even them non-whites are welcome in Putin's Russia where state enouraged neo Nazi gangs do his bidding.
We imagine the test will come if anybody decides to test the caveman of Europe on it. Even if something does give, and gays are beaten and the West protests, it's imagined he'll work it to his advantage with the rural uneducated peasants he relies on to keep him in power.
To think we had such high hopes of Russia when the Soviet era ended. Now you look and you don't think 'wow' but 'yuck'.
Friday night. 6pm. What to do? We decided to hit Guildhall Gothic for a great change from the usual stuff. It was the late view of the Victoriana exhibition at Guildhall Art Gallery - that's works "inspired by the Victorians" so Steam Punk meets clutching at table legs.
Any good? Yes. If you aint easily pleased this was good as there was plenty going on. For a start most folks had made a huge effort dressing up in Victorian outfits - so not a tops off kinda night... but in a good way.
